Montgomery Street Play Park

Montgomery Street Play Park

New improvements to Montgomery Street Park in Abbeyhill.

ELGT has worked in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council to upgrade the play area at Montgomery Street Park. It was officially opened by Councillor Val Walker, City of Edinburgh Council’s Convener for Culture and Communities.

ELGT worked with the Friends of Park Group to help transform and change the local perception of the play park by improving the equipment and accessibility which would in return increase the use of the local facility and improve the health and wellbeing of the local community. The physical works carried out on the playpark included the removal of some of the existing play equipment and the playing surface. It was replaced with a carpet safer surface and 12 new pieces of play equipment for both toddler and junior aged children. 10 new trees were also installed through Tree Time to help improve the biodiversity of the park.

It was an absolute pleasure to open the new play park at Montgomery Street Park. I’d like to thank Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust for all their fantastic work on this. I have many fond memories of bringing my son and his friends to this park over the years, and I’m sure this will be a great asset to the local area. Councillor Val Walker, Convener of Culture and Communities
