Cramond Island

The first stage of creating a diverse, good quality and appealing woodland is to have a good think about the best way to make it happen. The first step towards this is to create a woodland management plan.

The Trust was approached by the Dalmeny Estate to ‘improve the quality of the woodland and biodiversity’ on Cramond Island.  In order to understand fully the work required the Trust worked in partnership with the Cramond Heritage Trust, Forth Estuary Forum and the Estate to develop a plan and in time, create an access and woodland management plan for the island.

This first phase of this project is now complete, and an access and woodland management plan is now waiting to be utilised and the partnership will again worktogether on phase two and take further steps towards  creating a safe, accessible and welcoming woodland environment on Cramond Island.
