Greenspace Improvement
The Trust carries out practical environmental projects from start to finish and our work includes consultation, development, fundraising, community engagement, project management and implementation.
In 2010/11, the Trust has raised £920,000 for project delivery and managed a variety of greenspace improvements. We have:
- designed & constructed 2 x ‘blue’ grade bike tracks
- developed 22 woodland management plans
- audited and mapped 70 millennium woodlands.
- improved 3 millennium woodlands
- created an interpretive eco-sculpture
- planted 1 new grass/wildflower area
- planted 500 native shrubs
- planted 856 mixed woodland trees
- created 0.3 hectares of new woodland
- created 1500 sqm grassland
- carried out a woodland study of the 5 core areas of the Pentland Hills
- created a new allotment site
- created 1 accessible community garden
- upgraded 400m of access path in the Pentland Hills National park
- created 2 community orchards, including 52 fruit trees, wildlife hedge & fruit bushes
