Greenspace Improvement

The Trust carries out practical environmental projects from start to finish and our work includes consultation, development, fundraising, community engagement, project management and implementation.

In 2010/11, the Trust has raised £920,000 for project delivery and managed a variety of greenspace improvements. We have:

  • designed & constructed 2 x ‘blue’ grade bike tracks
  • developed 22 woodland management plans
  • audited and mapped 70 millennium woodlands.
  • improved 3 millennium woodlands
  • created an interpretive eco-sculpture
  • planted 1 new grass/wildflower area
  • planted 500 native shrubs
  • planted 856 mixed woodland trees
  • created 0.3 hectares of new woodland
  • created 1500 sqm grassland
  • carried out a woodland study of the 5 core areas of the Pentland Hills
  • created a new allotment site
  • created 1 accessible community garden
  • upgraded 400m of access path in the Pentland Hills National park
  • created 2 community orchards, including 52 fruit trees, wildlife hedge & fruit bushes
