There has been a lot of interest recently in community growing within the local area and the Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust was been asked by the City of Edinburgh Council to carry out a survey with the community surrounding Harrison Park, to find out what local people think.
The recent removal of unauthorised cultivation on the Union canal towpath was met with mixed opinion on the merits of a designated area being set aside for community growing purposes.
A community growing project involves local community members, volunteers and/or local groups growing plants or vegetables on shared or public land and maintaining it throughout the year.
We asked local residents to see what they thought about the idea, to find out if there was a local demand for this type of community activity.
