Spaces for People

Improving people’s health through active travel

NHS Lothian secured funding through Sustrans’ Spaces for People programme to design and build temporary infrastructure to support active travel and physical distancing during COVID-19. The funding was also for the delivery of a behaviour change project to encourage more hospital staff, patients and visitors to travel actively. ELGT was asked to manage the behaviour change element of this project. The funding was spread across four main hospital sites, the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh (RIE), Western General Hospital (WGH), St John’s Hospital (SJH) and East Lothian Community Hospital (ELCH).

A big thank you to @greenspacetrust @ELHFfunds @IanMack202 @Edinburgh_CC and @SustransScot for making our #BeBrightBeSeen event a success at today's #WellbeingWednesday! We are dedicated to keeping our staff safe on their commutes this winter! NHS Lothian
