Professor Chris Oliver since 2015 has been Professor of Physical Activity for Health at the Physical Activity for Health Research Centre (PAHRC), University of Edinburgh. His day job since 1997 has been a Specialist Consultant Trauma Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He once weighed over 27 stone and lost 12 stone after bariatric surgery. He got fit again by cycling 3,500 miles across USA in 2013, his advocacy for physical activity then began. He is a keen whitewater kayaker and has paddled down the Grand Canyon USA & Sun Kosi, Nepal.

Chris was delighted to become a board member of Edinburgh & Lothians GreenSpace Trust and wants to work to support local community engaging in using greenspace to improve health.
